Anne and Michelle are doing a fundraiser called “Deck the Halls for Diabetes” and “Active Imaginations”. Here is the mission statement they have sent in.

Mission Statement:

Coming this December 2008, Active Imaginations Foundation proudly presents: Deck the Halls for Diabetes. Deck the Halls for Diabetes is fundraising event that will take place somewhere in the Bay Area (official location to be announced) designed to raise awareness and money for diabetes and its research. “About 186, 300 of Americas with the ages between 20 or younger have diabetes. The estimated economic cost of diabetes in the year 2007 was $174 billion. Of this amount, $116 billion was due to direct medical costs and $58 billion due to indirect costs such as lost workdays, restricted activity, and disability due to diabetes.” During this event, we plan on hosting a benefit show/concert featuring various acts/performers. A large amount of the proceeds will be divided and donated to American Diabetes Association through Change the Children Foundation and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation . Extending our efforts in helping the community during the holiday season, we will also host a canned-food/toy drive that will benefit local shelters and charity organizations.
