My reasons for loving the Jonas Brothers‘ “Lovebug” video are manifold and thus: you get moderate patriotism, olde-tymey cameras, an homage to the elegance of the big band era, a snoring gramps, a Notebook-esque love story, and a forum for fantasizing about what it’d be like to move into an ACTUAL BUNGALOW AND DRINK SODAS WITH THE JONAS BROTHERS.

But also, unlike a lot of dime-a-dozen videos that hide a lack of substance behind over-the-top camera tricks and technique, “Lovebug” relied on the pull of the video’s strong emotional narrative and the expertise of director Philip Andelman.

Plus, I love me a little mandolin solo…

The NYPD is bulking up security in Times Square for the massive amounts of tweenage girls expected tonight for the Jonas Brothers’ performance — and from the scene outside their hotel today when they arrived, it’s a smart move.

The guys will be a part of two different New Year’s Eve TV events this year. Disney’s Annual New Years special “Totally New Year” will be hosted by the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place this year. Viewers can log into Disneychannel.com and vote for 21 Categories. Vote for your favorite “Living the Dream” episode in the Rocking the Dream category, and for Shane Gray in the “Coolest Guy Threads” category. The show will air Wednesday, December 31 [6 PM- 12:30 AM ET/PT] on Disney Channel.

Also on that celebratory evening, Jonas Brothers and several other stars will ring in 2009 from Times Square on “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve!” They will perform live during the ABC broadcast, joining Clark in New York along with his co-host Ryan Seacrest. A New Year’s Eve tradition, the show will air live on Wednesday, December 31st @ 10PM on ABC!

They may be nothing more than three skinny teenagers with nice hair, but they’ve struck fear into the hearts of New York City’s finest.

The New York Police Department – which has heroically handled terrorist attacks, blackouts and riots without a whimper – is being cautious over the “mob scene” that could result when the Jonas Brothers perform in Times Square at Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest on Wednesday night.

According to a source, police officials fessed up to their concerns in a recent meeting with producers of the show.

“So they’re now planning on using extra [security] men for support,” the source says. “It’s going to be crazy because everyone will be in Times Square to watch them perform on the show.”

If the extra cops can’t quell Jonas-mania, maybe Mother Nature can. The forecast for New Year’s Eve is currently a bone-chilling 17 degrees, with a chance of rain or snow.

According to a source, police officials have concerns after a meeting with producers of the annual show. SPOTTING: Yesterday, Nick Jonas was with Selena Gomez and another friend of theirs went watching a movie at the Omni Imax Theater in Forth Worth, Texas. They had 3D glasses with them when leaving so they either had watched “Yes Man” or “Bolt“. The same night, they were also spotted at a restaurant in Texas this time with Joe Jonas with them. A “Team Jonas” member got to take photos with Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas and Selena Gomez…

The girl group that opened for Demi Lovato for one of her shows in southern California, KSM, will be one of the opening acts for the Jonas Brothers’ small US tour that starts in June 2009 before they do their big World Tour in Fall 2009. One of the other opening acts will be nonetheless, their friends, Honor Society (For fans who don’t know, Alex Noyes from Honor Society use to be JB’s former drummer before Jack Lawless). We hope to get more information soon about the tour and official dates! The boys will probably start announcing details and information in January-March! [From JonasHQ]

Ok, so here’s how it happened.
Stelios and I are standing on line at ‘Market Basket’ waiting for our delicious sandwiches. I am wearing a long sleeve black shirt with 5 buttons; 3 of which are black, 2 of which are green. My jeans are torn, my hair is as curly as ever. Stelios is sporting a gray shirt, p-coat, and black top hat with a feather in it. We are discussing the finer points of the surprise I had just the other day when I realized that I actually really like hummus.
To our left we notice a sweet older woman smiling and laughing a bit at our conversation.
“I guess she really likes hummus too,” notes Stelios observantly.
Before we could change subjects to our plans of dominating the internet, the blond haired, bespectacled woman leans in and softly asks, “I’m sorry… but are you the Jonas Brothers?”

Stelios and I looked at each other and gave her a synchronized head shake of denial.
We smiled and she laughed at herself, clearly a bit embarrassed– “Well, I wasn’t sure what they looked like, I just know they grew up in Wyckoff so I figured…”
“We get that a lot,” Stelios reaffirmed. “It’s the eyebrows”
“Oh,” she said, “I don’t know.”…
