Perhaps that poor showing in the box office didn’t signify the Jonas Brothers were done after all.
The reason for the Disney megagroup’s poor turnout for their movie, Jonas Brothers: 3D Concert Experience, is becoming rather apparent. Their tour—you know, the thing where you pay a lot more but you get to see them in person in a giant room with tens of thousands of other screaming fans—has sold out huge arena venues in many major cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston, Pittsburgh, Edmonton, New Orleans, Atlanta and Washington, D.C. In fact, the trio sold more than 800,000 total tickets when the shows went on sale this weekend.
Jordin Sparks, as well as Honor Society, are joining the boy band for the North American leg of the tour, while Demi Lovato will help them kick off the festivities in Latin America in May.
“Ticket sales for this tour have been phenomenal,” says Jason Garner, chief executive officer for global music for Live Nation. “It’s clear to us that Jonas Brothers are a true global touring powerhouse.”
The good news follows the siblings’ big win for Favorite Music Group at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards Saturday evening.

Basic cable is a mercurial, ephemeral world where even the lowest-budget productions can succeed on zeitgeist-tapping alone (see: Logo’s RuPaul’s Drag Race), and the ineffable star quality of Mark-Paul Gosselaar (TNT’s Raising the Bar) gets its due. And nowhere is that better reflected than MediaWeek’s second-annual Cable Hot List, which is meant to help media buyers figure out which networks deserve their multi-millions most, but also provides a TV geek-friendly snapshot of the landscape over the past year.
USA’s still No. 1 — Monk may be tired, but Burn Notice is blazing hot, averaging a now-prime-time-worthy 6.6 million viewers. The Disney Channel cracks the list at No. 2 this year, and for good reason (her name is Hannah Montana, pictured) — the kids’ net has swept pop culture this year, bringing us chart-toppers Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers, not to mention the enduring stardom of the High School Musical alums. Its older sister, ABC Family, comes in at No. 6, thanks in no small part to pregnant-teen drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which has been known to beat Gossip Girl in its Monday time slot. Fox News (No. 3) thrived despite/because of the changing of the political guard from conservative to liberal (remember, Comedy Central’s Daily Show rose to power when it had a national government to buck up against). But its chief rival, at least ideologically — MSNBC — made a splash as well (thanks, Rachel Maddow!), coming in at No. 8. As for drama, there’s plenty of that, too, with TNT (home of The Closer, Saving Grace, and Gosselaar) at No. 4 and Mad Men net AMC at No. 10.
What do you think, PopWatchers? Do Disney, ABC Family, and Fox News rule your cable viewing? Anything you’re surprised not to see (MTV, Nickelodeon, or my fave, the History Channel)?

A funny thing must’ve happened on the way to the Nickeodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2009 this past Saturday. Seems like Joe Jonas tripped and fell on a pair of scissors, stood up and turned into Adrian Grenier 2.0, except exponentially better looking, in my opinion. Don’t get me wrong — I wouldn’t kick Adrian Grenier off my flip-n-…er… friend! for eating Lunchables, but Adrian’s hot 50% of the time, and the other 50% he kinda has a weird ape-like express that makes me feel like I can’t really trust him, whereas Joe Jonas looks good ALWAYS.
Anyway, what’s your take on Joe Jonas’ new haircut? I mean CLEARLY it’s MILES above Camp Rock, and it also looks a little easier to maintain next to what I’ll refer to as his A Little Less Longer hair, since this is clearly his Lines, Vines And Trying Times (or whatever the new Jonas Brothers album will be called) look.
Leave a comment below, and tell me whether you love Joe Jonas’ new hair, hate it (traitor!), or prefer Adrian Grenier, and why!

The synopsis for the series is read: “The Jonas Brothers seem to be your typical teen rock band hoping to make it to the big time. They travel the country in their rickety tour bus, performing shows, selling homemade CDs and meeting fans. What a life!”
Thanks to Oh No They Didn’t, Benjamin Cook interviewed the Jonas Brothers for Radio Times. He posted some of the questions that got cut on his twitter.
