DirecTV is opening the gates of its buzzy new Kingdom to reveal a jacked Matt Lauria and Nick Jonas in near-constant states of undress.
The series, billed as a gritty family drama set against the backdrop of the renegade subculture of Mixed Martial Arts, stars Prison Break alum Frank Grillo as Alvey Kulina, an MMA legend and owner of a Venice, CA-based gym. Jonas plays Nate, Alvey’s prize-fighter son and younger brother to Jay (an unrecognizable Jonathan Tucker). Lauria, meanwhile, portrays a world-class athlete who had (and lost) it all. Kiele Sanchez and Joanna Going round out the cast as Alvey’s current girlfriend and ex-wife, respectively.
Quick warning about the just-released trailer (embedded exclusively above): In addition to partial male nudity, the extended clip features an endless barrage of F-bombs, so it’s probably NSFW.
Kingdom (from Endemol and Detroit 1-8-7‘s Byron Balasco) premieres Oct. 8 at 9/8c on DirecTV.
Nick Jonas is returning to the small screen full time.
The singer-actor and The Glades alum Kiele Sanchez have nabbed co-starring roles in DirecTV’s family MMA drama Navy St., The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From Endemol Studios, Navy St. is a gritty drama set against the backdrop of a mixed martial arts gym in Venice, Calif., named Navy Street run by Alvey Henderson (Captain America’s Frank Grillo), a former fighter whose drug addiction prevented him from making it big.
Jonas will play Nate Henderson, Alvey’s youngest son who is his father’s pride and joy. Nate is a shy kid who receives a UFC contract. The character lives with his brother Jay, whose struggle with addiction has an impact on Nate. Parenthood’s Jonathan Tucker co-stars as Alvey’s oldest son, Jay.
Sanchez will play Lisa Prince, Alvey’s long-time girlfriend. The role marks the actress’ first TV gig following her four-season run on the A&E drama. Repped by ICM Partners, Industry Entertainment and Hirsch Wallerstein, her credits also include Samantha Who, Lost and Related.
For Jonas, the role marks his latest small-screen gig following guest spots on CBS’ Hawaii Five-O, NBC’s Smash as well as Last Man Standing and The Lying Game. It’s his first regular role since Disney Channel’s Jonas. His credits include Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, the Camp Rock movies as well as docuseries Married to Jonas.
The Jonas Brothers recently announced that the band would be breaking up following a “deep, creative rift” among the group after their concert tour was canceled last year.
Navy St. was created by Detroit 1-8-7’s Byron Balasco. DirecTV picked up the drama with a 10-episode straight-to-series commitment last year. The series will be DirecTV’s third original drama, joining Rogue and Full Circle. Navy St. will begin production May 5 in Los Angeles and bow on DirecTV’s Audience Network in the fall.
Jonas, who also starred on Broadway’s How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, is repped by CAA, The Jonas Group and Schreck Rose.
Nick Jonas Calls Being an Uncle “Amazing,” Shares First Photo of Him Holding Baby Niece Alena Rose
Sounds as though Nick Jonas is just as excited as brother Joe about being an uncle.
“It’s amazing,” he told E! News Wednesday, sitting alongside Demi Lovato for a chat about her upcoming Neon Lights Tour, for which Nick is serving as creative and musical director.
“I’m actually flying right after this to meet my niece for the first time,” the 21-year-old singer continued. “He [brother Kevin Jonas] in love with this baby, it’s ridiculous. He sends me pictures every 10 minutes. I think it’s just like the joy of his life right now, so I’m excited to go [see] him.”
Kevin and wife Danielle welcomed daughter Alena Rose, their first child together, on Sunday—and, happily, they’ve been quite forthcoming with baby pictures.
Joe Jonas had already shared a photo of a snuggly moment with his niece, and Nick added to the album today.
“My beautiful niece Alena Rose,” he captioned the pic, which features the wide-eyed infant, clad in a fabulous little onesie printed with hearts, looking intently at her uncle’s face (well, we can’t blame her for staring) while he’s holding her on the couch.
But before he had a chance to meet her, Nick also joked with Demi and E! News’ Kristina Guerrero about what topics to avoid while talking to new moms, like Danielle.
“Never bring up sleep,” advised Kristina, whose own little one is 6 months old.
“I won’t complain about breastfeeding with a mom, either,” Demi added, holding her own for effect.
Nick reassured them, “I was not planning on bringing up boobs.”
But he did plan ahead, revealing that he had gifts for mother and baby—he just needed to run home after his interview to pick them up before he went to the airport!
“I got her and my sister-in-law some good stuff,” Nick said confidently.
NEW YORK CITY — Kevin Jonas is back in the spotlight despite the family band breaking up, last year.
Jonas and his two brothers, Joe and Nick, broke the hearts of tweens everywhere when the trio split up.
Having shared their love and family story with fans for a few years already, Kevin and and his wife Danielle are now anxiously awaiting the birth of their first child.
The celebrity couple joined KARE 11 Sunrise from New York City to discuss their pending parenthood using the Dreft Amazing Baby Days app, future projects and if there’s a future for the Jonas Brothers as a band.

He joins previously announced performers Fall Out Boy and Austin Mahone.
“I’m excited about performing my new single ‘Heart Attack’ on the TeenNick HALO Awards,” Iglesias said. “This award show is special to me because we get to honor real teens who have earned their way on the show by doing community service.”
Additionally, Twilight star Nikki Reed has been confirmed as a presenter, joining a slate that already includes Darren Criss (Glee), Dax Shepard (Parenthood) and Chloe Bennet (Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD).
The HALO Awards also will host a social media lounge, dubbed the HALO Hive, that will be led by YouTube personality iJustine. New York-based duo The Jane Doze has been tapped as the event’s official DJs.
The TeenNick HALO Awards, executive produced by Cannon, Alex Coletti and Sal Maniaci, spotlight four teenagers from all over the country who are helping and leading others. They are paired up with celebrities who share a similar passion for their cause. Josh Hutcherson, Shay Mitchell, Chris Paul and Queen Latifah participated this year.
