CAMBIO NEWS: Nick Jonas Named JDRF National Chair

    Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Nick Jonas was announced yesterday as the National Chair of JDRF’s Walk to Cure Diabetes.

Nick has been a strong advocate for Diabetes awareness & research since being diagnosed with Type I Diabetes when he was 13. As National Chair, Nick will help JDRF increase participation and fundraising in its annual Walks, attend events to support fundraising efforts as well as take part in promotional videos and television public service announcements for JDRF. Nearly 500,000 people took part in JDRF Walks last year, raising some $75 million.

“As a person living day to day with diabetes and recognizing the tremendous contribution the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation has done for our community, I couldn’t be more honored to serve as the National Chair for the Walk to Cure Diabetes,” says Nick.

“Having Nick Jonas as National Chair will go far towards raising awareness of type 1 diabetes, and what needs to be done to find a cure. Nick has been a wonderful role model for kids and adults with diabetes, and has been invaluable in bringing visibility to efforts to cure this disease,” said Leo Mullin, Chairman of Board of Directors for JDRF. “We have seen the impact he has firsthand, when he demonstrated his commitment to support diabetes research through the Jonas Brothers’ Change for the Children Foundation, and when he testified in Congress for JDRF on the need for continued federal funding for research.”

    Congrats Nick!

PHOTOS: 2009 – Out on set of “Who I Am” Music Video – 12/15

    Sunday, May 30th, 2010

I finally got around to adding this adorable photo sent by Mrs. Reeves of her daughter, Jiana (8 years old) who was in the “Who I Am” music video (she’s the adorable girl who held the sign that said “DIVA”). The whole family are big fans of Nick Jonas saying:

We want to send big thanks to Nick for being so gracious and kind to Jiana. The video was great and the song is fantastic. We are pretty proud of Jiana and are big fans of Nick. My husband was real impressed with how gracious Nick was with the girls, Rose (who was the poet) and Jiana, and of course loved Nick’s Mustang. Thanks again Nick!

Jonas Brothers: They’re Going on Tour Again

    Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Tue., Apr. 20, 2010 5:29 PM PDT by Marc Malkin and Dahvi Shira

Despite solo careers and married life, Nick, Joe and Kevin are putting the final touches on the tour they first talked about earlier this year.

“We are going back on tour this summer,” Kevin revealed in a new interview with Radio Disney’s Ernie D.

“It will be unlike any tour we’ve done before, and we’re really looking forward to getting back out there with our fans,” Nick added.

A source tells us the official announcement should be coming any day now.

It was just in January that Nick hit the road with his solo project, Nick Jonas and the Administration. In the same month, Joe told us he may be ready to branch out on his own, too. And with Kevin settling down into hubbyhood, we just weren’t sure of the next time we’d see the trio tour again.

No word on whether or not Demi Lovato will make any surprise cameos on stage with her beau Joe.

    ARTICLE: ‘I’ve Always Been Driven’

    Saturday, April 17th, 2010

    by Jeanne Wolf
    published: 04/18/2010

Let’s get one thing straight about Nick Jonas’ story. He may have gone solo, but it wasn’t to get away from his brothers. He, Kevin, and Joe—collectively, the teen pop-music sensation the Jonas Brothers—are still very much together. They recently sang with one another on “We Are the World,” they’re currently filming the second season of their Disney TV show, JONAS, and they’ll tour as a trio this summer.

“We make decisions together—even when we’re doing things individually,” Nick, the youngest Jonas Brother, says. “Going into my first solo album, it’s good to know that they were excited. There’s been a good vibe from the get-go.”

Few know that Nick’s solo career actually started the worldwide Jonas Brothers phenomenon back in 2003 when a song by the 11-year-old singer-songwriter caught the attention of Columbia Records. Its execs loved the sound of the three boys together, and the rest is teen-idol history. So, when his new band, the Administration, launched its first album in February, the Jo Bros were his biggest boosters.

Nick, now 17, likes to tease that his new band’s name is a warning to anyone in the Oval Office that the teen singer is aiming to sit behind that desk. In fact, he’s met President Obama and performed at the White House. Nick is such a serious guy that his family calls him “Mr. Prez.” “It was a joke at first,” he says. “Then, I thought, ‘Man, it actually would be cool to run for President one day.’

“I’ve always been quite driven,” he adds. “I take after my father. He’s a driven person. He’s also a leader. He does a great job as a mentor to all of us.”

Every Jonas fact is a collectible gem for female fans. Golf is Nick’s favorite sport, and he loves to play softball, though he has to be careful about injuries. At present, he’s sipping a Diet Coke: Jonas followers will tell you that he’s had to be careful about his sugar intake since being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2005. Yes, he dated Miley Cyrus, and now they’re friends. Yes, he’s been spotted with Selena Gomez, another Disney teen queen, but, he swears: “It’s a lot more boring than anyone wants to think.”

Can he tell us about his love life?

“Look at my brother Kevin,” Nick says, dodging the question with a sly grin. “He just got married, so now we have a sister.”

How well do you know the Jonas Brothers? Take the quiz!

Nick’s family is known for adhering to Christian values, and he insists that talk about his “purity ring” (which proclaims his virginity) or his religious beliefs is off-limits. “We like to keep some things private,” he says. “We appreciate it when people respect that. Everyone has a right to his own business.”

Nick got into show business early. By 8, he was acting in Broadway productions like Beauty and the Beast and Annie Get Your Gun. He and his brothers were home-schooled, and, no, he doesn’t think he missed a “normal childhood.”

The new solo album was Nick’s chance to express himself. He says that fans who want to find out every detail about him can learn the most from listening to the songs he writes, such as “Who I Am.”

Video: Get a behind-the-scenes look at Nick during his exclusive photo shoot

“That song is about someone loving me for who I am,” he says. “It’s saying that it’s important for me to be comfortable with myself first. One of the biggest things I think people struggle with, even at my age, is self-confidence—feeling comfortable in their skin and wanting to find someone who loves them for that.”

Nick already has plenty of money and fame. What he’s looking for now, with his solo effort, is respect. “I hope my peers in music and my friends are liking it,” he says. “I hope they can see my growth in music. It’s a dream of mine to win a Grammy one day.”

He laughs. “I’m not saying I’m Grammy-worthy, but it would be a dream come true.”

Kyle Anne – “Who I Am” Cover.

    Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Kyle Anne deals with a disorder called “Fraser Syndrome” and throughout her 30th surgery she had “Who I Am” playing the whole time. She did a cover of the song because it meant a lot to her. We just wanted to say, you did a great job and hang in there, Kyle Anne!

PLEASE READ: “This song means a lot to me. I wanted to say a small thank you to Nick even tho odds are he’ll never see this.

On December 29th, I had my 30th surgery. I have a disorder called Fraser Syndrome and I was the 75th person to be born with it on record, Fraser Syndrome is the bi-product of the interaction of genes received from one?’s parents. It is an autosomal recessive genetic disorder and it effects the development of our human traits. In my case, I was born with a partially fused left eyelid, a smaller than normal larynx, a high arched palate, low set cup-shaped ears, only one kidney, a broad nose and partially fused fingers and toes and a few other things. Most of which has been addressed surgically. ‘I’m frightened to death, I’m frightened that I won’t be strong’.” -Kyle Anne
