LAKE NORMAN, N.C. — If you’ve heard a lot of “tweens” screaming lately, it might be because the youngest Jo-Bro is in town shooting a movie. It’s the first starring role for Nick Jonas in a feature film that, believe it or not, doesn’t involve music.
Careful What You Wish For is an independent movie that started shooting in the Charlotte area last month and will wrap up in the end of May.
IMDB describes the plot as “a guy gets more than he bargained for after entering into an affair with the wife of an investment banker. Soon, a suspicious death and substantial life insurance policy embroil him in a scandal.”
The crew is quietly shooting along Lake Norman, which is actually doubling for Lake Lure near Asheville.
Producer Bradley Gallo says the script called for a quaint, smaller town and they considered shooting in Georgia and Seattle but chose North Carolina because the lakes in the area offered the setting they needed and the tax incentives helped with the low budget film.
Gallo first came to town two months ago to scout locations, and says, “We love the people. The locals have been extremely helpful in making things happen. They’ll loan you their car, house, even give you a boat. All of that has helped along the way.”
He says the challenge to shooting in the Charlotte area is finding enough crew and the distance between set locations.
“In New York or L.A., everything is right there at your disposal,” he says.
Another unexpected challenge? Mother Nature has been a little, uh, unkind lately.
“The weather has been exactly opposite from what it was supposed to be. We had to rearrange a lot of schedules and we did the rain dance a few days.”
But he calls star Nick Jonas “Super, super talented. I’m not surprised, but I’m impressed by his acting ability. He’s so professional.”
And it would seem, entertaining. During breaks Jonas takes to the piano or guitar.
“He’ll just start playing and the crew gravitates to him.”
Fans are also gravitating to him– when they can find him.
“They can’t find the set,” the producer says, “It’s amazing how good we’ve been.”
But away from the set Jonas is regularly spotted and unless he is eating, always poses for fan photos.
“He always stops. He never says no.”
Last week Jonas himself tweeted, “Filming has been going great.”
Older brother Joe came to visit last weekend and his parents have also visited the set.

To reduce the likelihood of involuntary screaming or fainting spells, teenage girls are asked to take a deep breath before reading the following three pieces of information:
1. Until the end of the month, singer Nick Jonas – one-third of hugely successful pop-rock band the Jonas Brothers – will be in and around the Lake Norman area working as a lead actor in the movie “Careful What You Wish For.”
2. Jonas is staying at Birkdale Village during the shoot, which began April 22.
3. He tries to keep a low profile when not on set, and generally stays close to his temporary home. This means he’s popped up frequently at Birkdale haunts including eeZ Fusion & Sushi, Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar, Red Rocks Café, Baja Soul Taqueria, and Starbucks.
“It’s been tough to venture out too much, just because it gets a little crazy around here,” Jonas says. “But I have my security guy with me, and he helps me navigate around pretty easily. It’s one of those things. You just have to play it by ear and make sure that everyone’s safe.”
At 20, Jonas is the youngest member of the Jonas Brothers (which also features Joe, 23, and Kevin, 25); the group rose to fame in large part thanks to the Disney Channel and has sold 17 million albums worldwide.
Though the trio will return to touring this summer and is planning to release its first new record in four years in the fall, Nick Jonas has shown increased interest in acting. He spent four months on Broadway in the musical “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” in 2012, and then early this year committed to his first major Hollywood film.
It’s a grown-up role for Jonas, whose most high-profile acting work previously was in the shiny-happy “Camp Rock” movies for Disney: “Careful What You Wish For” is a thriller about a young man (Jonas) entangled in an affair with the young wife of an investment banker who dies under suspicious circumstances. Isabel Lucas and Dermot Mulroney co-star.
“It’s been really fulfilling and really challenging at the same time,” Jonas says. “The material in the movie is pretty heavy, and so it’s just been a balance of trying to leave work at work and come back and be OK afterwards. But it’s been a great experience so far.”
Much of the filming is taking place right on Lake Norman (in the film, the couple is renting the lake house next door to Jonas’s character for the summer). But the production also has been as far north as Mooresville and as far west of Belmont – which his family has strong ties to.
Jonas’s father, Kevin, was raised in Belmont and graduated in 1984 from South Point High School. Relatives still in the area include Jonas’s grandmother, an aunt and uncle, and three cousins. “To come back here and to be shooting a movie – and knowing we’re back here on tour soon (July 30 at Time Warner Cable Uptown Amphitheatre) – is a really cool thing.”
So, yes, he likes it here. He likes the southern hospitality. He loves the turkey burgers at Bad Daddy’s. And as long as his security guard approves of you, he likes to greet fans who catch him out and about at Birkdale.
“I love it when I meet people that have purchased our music or come to a concert. That support is a great thing,” Jonas says, “so I’m always down to say hello.”
Dani gets a first listen of the Jonas Brothers’ new song–but she isn’t too crazy about her hubby’s ideas for the music video! Hear why.
Dani’s parents need a place to stay while their new home is under construction. See what catches Mrs. Jonas off-guard when her folks arrive.

EXCLUSIVE: KEVIN & DANI JONAS ON MARRIED TO JONAS SEASON 2, LIVING WITH IN-LAWS, AND THE FUTURE OF THE JONAS BROTHERS

With a new album and a new season of Married to Jonas upcoming, Kevin Jonas and Dani Jonas are as busy as ever. But we still caught up with them to ask a few questions about the future of the show, and of the Jonas Brothers.
On Being in a Reality Show: “It’s never something that you really get used to,” Kevin said of having cameras following him around. “It’s much easier doing it the second time around, for sure.”
On Living with the In-Laws: With Dani’s parents moving in for part of the new season, we asked Kevin and Dani what their favorite and least favorite things about living with the Deleasa’s under one roof were. “The best thing is there’s always food out!” Kevin noted. But that’s a double-edged sword: “I’m trying to be conscious about what I’m eating, so having all that food out is a problem.”
As for Dani, she has her ups and downs with the parents around. “My dad fixes everything in the house, and then my mom is teaching me more how to cook,” she noted. But it’s not all easy: “The worst thing is there’s always something going on in the house,” she added. “It’s not peaceful.”
On the Sexy New “Pom Poms” Video: “The whole concept was actually Joe’s,” Kevin said of the video, which features a team of pro cheerleaders. “I left that to them to figure it out.” But despite all the sexy dancers, Dani wasn’t worried. “I didn’t think too much into it…and if there’s cheerleaders, there’s jocks,” she joked.
On the Future of the Jonas Brothers: “We’re now making our fifth studio album, and this one’s a little different,” Kevin said of the new JoBros effort. “We’re doing this one on our own…we’re now our own bosses, we are the label. There’s a little more pressure when it comes to that. We’re really looking forward to what the future holds.”
Be sure to catch Dani and Kevin in the season two premiere of Married to Jonas on Sunday, April 21 at 10:30/9:30c, only on E!

February 22, 2013 – On Sunday, April 21, television’s top pop culture destination will premiere the highly anticipated new series featuring swimming superstar Ryan Lochte and season two of the hit series following the lives of Kevin and Danielle Jonas. “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?” airs at 10:00pm and is followed by “Married to Jonas” at 10:30pm, bringing two all-new premieres to E!’s popular year-round Sunday night reality programming block.
He took the world by storm in the London Summer Games, and in “What Would Ryan Lochte Do?” at 10:00pm, the all-American swimming phenom proves that he lives life just like he swims … all out and at top speed. The new series shines a whole new light on the sexy superstar swimmer as Lochte’s friendships, love life and family dynamic take center stage for all the world to see. And since this ‘athlebrity’ pushes each aspect of his life to the highest level, Lochte’s unpredictable, unfiltered and delightfully uninhibited “Lochteisms” — those remarks, phrases and concepts that catch us completely off-guard and for which he has already become legend — are going to have people texting and tweeting from coast to coast.
Next, “Married to Jonas” returns with an all-new season at 10:30pm. This season, the phrase “one big happy family” is put to the test when challenges, triumphs, family celebrations, pressures and drama reveal themselves as Kevin and Danielle, begin to really settle into their lives together, while attempting to accommodate the needs of their very close — and very different — families. The Jonas Brothers are fired up with new music and a pending world tour, while new challenges at home, the desire (and pressure from their families) to have a baby, and their very different in-laws, put Kevin and Danielle’s marriage to the test. One thing is for sure; Danielle and Kevin, along with his famous siblings Nick and Joe and the couple’s extended families, are in for some personal and professional ups and downs this season.

The full synopsis for Nick Jonas’ new movie, Careful What You Wish For, has been released. Nick is set to star as Doug Martin in the edgy thriller.
The movie “centers on self-conscious virgin Asheville high school student Doug Martin who gets more than he bargained for when he starts a torrid affair with Lana Harper-the gorgeous young, lonely wife of weathly Charlotte investment banker Elliott Harper, who recently rents the upscale house next door to his parents vacation cabin on Lake Lure.
After Elliott is found dead on his burned out boat, it is initially ruled an accident. But when it is discovered that he died of head trauma before getting burned, along with the existence of a $10 million life insurance polity, it rocks the sleepy vacation community.
Although everyone in town has theories about the murder, Doug becomes under the suspicion of Allied Trust rookie insurance investigator Angie Alvarez, with only family friend and local Sheriff “Big Jack” to help prove his innocence. To make matters worse, Doug did repair Elliot’s boat that exploded, and Lane begins setting him up as a stalker who broke in, raped her, and killed her husband.”
Filming is said to begin in Charlotte, NC on April 22 and go until May 24! Hopefully, we get some set photos of Nick in Charlotte!
***Nick has mentioned on E! News & On Air with Ryan Seacrest, that he is been on a diet and working out more for this film to get lean/bulk up because he will be shirtless a lot. OW!***
