We’re introducing you to the Camp Rock 2 band. Keep watching! Hello hello. I’m Dana Ward and this is ClevverTV. Today we’re giving you an up-close look at the band in this summer’s hot new movie. Aberdeen is made up of 5 friends who have taken their music to the next level, and you can’t miss them playing alongside the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato for Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam. Not only can you catch them rocking out on the big screen, but Aberdeen is also playing 200-plus dates for the upcoming National High School Tour, so you might be able to catch them in your hometown. Multitalented Demi Lovato and the Jonas Brothers lead the contemporary movie musical “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam,” part of the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise. It is a sequel to 2008′s #1 cable TV movie and hooks with its musical passion, cool dance moves and songs that grab hold.

This summer of fun opens on a high-pitched Camp Rock reunion. The Camp Rockers have returned, eager to tune up and rock out. Nobody’s more excited than Mitchie (Demi Lovato), who anticipates more than a summer of music. Fresh from a world tour, the rock band Connect 3 (the Jonas Brothers, playing Shane, Nate and Jason Gray) are hanging all summer – Shane to pursue last summer’s crush on Mitchie, his band mates as moral support. Guitar legend Brown Cesario, Camp Rock’s owner, is ready to rock ‘n roll.

They’re three of the most popular brothers in Hollywood. Now the Jonas Brothers are shifting their fans’ attention from their music to the importance of not texting while driving.

The trio teamed up with insurance company Allstate, to “X the TXT,” a social campaign looking to encourage young people and their families to stop texting while behind the wheel. Kevin Jonas, the oldest brother of the group, says “the text is not worth dying over,” a phrase that was heard over and over on Friday as the boys held a softball game at Camden’s Campbell’s Field in which their fans got to pledge along with the celebrities to not text and drive.

“It’s great to see that they care about their fans and know that a lot of their fans are young drivers,” said Jenna Wasserman, one of those “young drivers” from Bala Cynwyd and big fan of the band. For the thousands of screaming teenage girls inside the riverfront stadium, just the chance to see the three in person was fun.

Christine Sutton from Narberth, who has more than a decade until she gets in the driver’s seat, already knows that texting is dangerous. “My mom always puts her phone on silent in the car because she doesn’t want to use it and get in a crash.”

The numbers are staggering: Almost half of students who were surveyed in 2009 claim to text and drive. According to Allstate the risk of a fatal accident while texting and driving is 23 times more than not doing so. Some believe it’s even more dangerous then drinking and driving.

All at Friday’s event were given “X the TXT” thumb rings to wear as reminders not to text and drive. “They’re quite the fashion statement. I’m sure all these girls here are going to be wearing them out tonight,” said the youngest brother, Nick Jonas, as he laughed.

Main Line Media News also cuaght up with former Phillie Mitch Williams, who spoke about the event and Jonas Brothers’ baseball skills.

Demi Lovato told us recently that the littlest Jonas brother, Frankie, has swag like Justin Bieber. And as it turns out, the elder Jonas Brothers, namely Joe, Kevin and Nick, and Justin Bieber are all known for something they have in common, and we’re not talking about their bustling careers. We’re referring to their incredibly famous and all-important heads of hair. While Bieber is known for his signature swoop, the brothers Jonas are recognized for their curly mops.

This fascinating paralell raised a question: Who has better hair, the Jonas Brothers or Justin Bieber? Their “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” co-stars weighed in on this battle for the ages.

“I’m friends with the Jonas Brothers [and] I do have to see them later on, but I know that Bieber has this whole thingy, the swoop thingy,” Jasmine Richards pondered. “I’m gonna have to say Jonas Brothers only ’cause their hair’s great. … But Bieber … can I be in the middle?”

Nick Jonas’ “Camp Rock 2″ love interest, Chloe Bridges, compared the decision-making process on this issue to choosing a favorite summer sweet. “Well, there are three Jonas Brothers versus one Bieber. So I don’t know,” she explained. “They might win, however, they both have good hair. It’s hard to say. It’s like vanilla versus chocolate — do you like the straight or the wavy? It’s like ice cream flavors.”

Anna Maria Perez de Tagle seemed to have the decision locked: “Oh, the Jonases, for sure! I mean, they all have different hairstyles, which is awesome,” she said. “Justin Bieber has the one hairstyle. For sure, the brothers!”

Brothers showcase sound over spectacle at Comcast Center

MANSFIELD — The Jonas Brothers didn’t put on the same level of spectacle as in previous concerts when they opened their two-night stand at the Comcast Center. But even stripped of the flash, the band showed their music is substantial enough to captivate.

The Wednesday evening concert brought joy of thousands of preteen girls in attendance, as well as their mothers.

Opening act Demi Lovato is on tour with the Jonases to promote Disney’s “Camp Rock 2,” and the set list reflected that. Joe played a game with Nick, challenging him to sing “Introducing Me” off the movie soundtrack in under 2 minutes and 15 seconds, and Joe and Demi sang “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” together, but the music from the movie was less impressive than the artists’ other work.

Dedicated fans were able to test their Jonas knowledge when the brothers ran through clips of older songs, starting with “Time for Me to Fly” from their first album.

The trio showed themselves to be aware of their young audience and Disney-pop image when they exchanged banter for a few minutes while trying, unsuccessfully, to pick a song of theirs they could categorize as “deep.” “‘Burning Up’s’ pretty deep,” Kevin joked.

They managed to elicit “deep” emotions when they played “Please be Mine,” announcing it as the first song they ever wrote. On huge screens behind them played a slideshow of family pictures, showing them growing up. The song was barely audible behind the screams that rose up to accompany each adorable baby picture.

Then came “Lovebug,” a song so toned down and sincere it’s hard to believe it’s not a cover. The “Camp Rock” dancers came on set and, with more than a nod to the “Lovebug” music video, twirled around the stage in ’40s inspired costume.

The first hour of the brothers’ set employed minimal theatrics. It was only at the close of the show, when “Lovebug” broke into a rock ballad and paper rose petals shot down from the ceiling, that the concert became the grandiose affair expected of a group that acts as the face of Disney.

“SOS” and “Burning Up” closed the show, and as the audience made one last frenzied push to the stage, the brothers bid farewell in a characteristically goofy manner. The clean, quick-moving performance left little room for improvisation, and it was hard to tell, as Kevin and Nick pushed Joe in front of a closing partition, leaving him trapped on stage, to what degree their interactions were choreographed.

Alyson Stoner led the audience through three barely sufferable singles off the “Camp Rock” soundtrack before introducing Lovato. She distinguished herself from Disney with her solo material, strutting around the stage in a short feathered dress and leather boots and belting out songs about heartbreak like “Get Back” and “Remember December.”

But when she went back into “Camp Rock” mode, marked by a change into a decorous flowered sundress, the songs became unmemorable, just a stream of flashy dance moves and face-spanning smiles. The show started to seem like an elaborate commercial when Lovato asked the audience to chant the premiere date of “Camp Rock 2.
