Nick Jonas and Michael Urie celebrate the end of How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying with a trip to Six Flags on Wednesday (May 23) in Jackson, New Jersey.

The Broadway group — which also included Abby Church and Michael Park — took on the park’s newest ride, Skyscreamer before hitting up the coasters: Nitro, Green Lantern and Bizarro.

“I had my last performance as Finch in @H2SBway last night. It was truly the ride of a lifetime,” Nick tweeted his goodbyes earlier this week. “I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to perform in the broadway stage with so many talented people each night. I will miss everyone at the Al Herschfeld theatre very much. Thank you to all of you the amazing fans for being so supportive. You are the best fans in the world. I am so looking forward to sharing all the exciting things coming up with all of you.”

Jonas was joined by his former Broadway cast mates from “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” at the New Jersey theme park.

Jonas and the group then challenged the park’s stellar line-up of coasters including Nitro, one of the world’s top steel roller coasters, GREEN LANTERN and BIZARRO. Jonas delighted fans as he continually stopped for photos and autographs throughout the visit, and Tweeted, “Having an awesome time at six flags with friends!”

Bruno Mars and Nick Jonas, who ended his run in Broadway’s “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” last weekend, took to the stage to sing after dining at the Darby on Saturday night. They dined separately with friends before taking the stage for back-to-back performances. Mars sang his hit “Grenade” while Jonas followed with the Stevie Wonder classic “Superstition.” Both received standing ovations. Mars and friends feasted on seafood and red wine.

Nick Jonas is back to reprise his role the child actor turned über-rich hottie Lyle West, and we are currently mailing in our ‘thank you!’ notes to the powers-that-be at NBC.

Check out this exclusive clip from next week’s season finale and find which peanut-loving schemer tried to poison Rebecca Duvall (Uma Thurman) out of Bombshell. Plus, Lyle casts his vote for who he thinks should take over as the next Marilyn!

Lyle has returned to give Eileen’s (Anjelica Huston) precious drawing back and learns that not only is Bombshell in some serious trouble, but their movie star Marilyn is now MIA.

Oh and surprise, surprise! It was Ellis (Jaime Cepero) the assistant, with the blender, in the dressing room. Cue the not-so-dramatic music please.

The young entrepreneur seems confident that Ivy (Megan Hilty) is still perfect for the part. Hmm, we wonder if his vote has anything to do with the fact he was completely smitten with Ivy the last time he was in town.

Don’t miss the Smash season finale Monday at 10 p.m. on NBC

Were you surprised it was Ellis? Excited to see your favorite JoBro return? Sing to us in the comments!

(E! and NBC are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)

The suits at the World Wide Wicket Company are closing up shop. The Broadway revival of Frank Loesser’s 1961 musical “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” will close after its performance on Sunday, May 20, the show’s producers announced on Tuesday. It will have played 30 previews and 473 regular performances at the Al Hirschfeld Theater.

Nominated in 2011 for a Tony Award for best musical revival, the show has been struggling at the box office in recent weeks despite the star power of its leading man, the pop singer Nick Jonas, in the role of the executive J. Pierrepont Finch. Last week the show took in just $367,605 at the box office, or about 26 per cent of its potential gross at the Hirschfeld. It recouped its $9 million initial investment in December.

On Jan. 24, Mr. Jonas took over the role of Finch from Darren Criss, one of the stars of the TV series “Glee.” Mr. Criss performed the show for three weeks at the beginning of January after Daniel Radcliffe, the revival’s original Finch, departed the show in December. A spokesman for the production said that Mr. Jonas’s contract was to have run through July 1.

The news came on the same day that the producers of another Broadway musical, “Leap of Faith,” announced that it would close on Sunday at the St. James Theater.

08 May 2012

The Broadway revival of How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying — first a vehicle for Daniel Radcliffe, and now starring Nick Jonas — will close up shop on May 20, the producers announced May 8.

Pop star Jonas began punching the clock as corporate ladder-climber J. Pierrepont Finch in this 50th anniversary Broadway revival of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musical satire on Jan. 24. Also new to the Rob Ashford-directed cast at the time was “Ugly Betty” star Michael Urie as office brown-noser Bud Frump. In 2011, John Larroquette won a Tony Award for playing company president J.B. Biggley. That role is now played by Emmy Award winner Beau Bridges.

Performances play the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. By close, the production will have played 30 previews and 473 regular performances.

The cast was told the closing news prior to the Tuesday night curtain. The closing notice coincides with the May 8 release of a new five-track Broadway cast album EP from Broadway Records. Nick Jonas is heard on the album; Radcliffe is heard on the full 2011 cast album.

“We could not have asked for a better vision of this legendary show than Rob Ashford’s joyous production which literally sent audiences dancing out into the streets,” producer John Gore said in a statement. “I am certain the original creators would be proud of this chapter in the legacy of this great show.”

“My producing partners and I are extremely grateful to the unbelievably talented company of actors and skillful crew that have given vibrant life to this show for over 500 performances,” producer Michael McCabe added. “Their collective commitment, spirit and energy is what has made the audience experience so singular and thrilling. We could not be more proud of this production.”

Primarily known as one of the Jonas Brothers, the hit band he formed with his two siblings in 2005, Jonas started his Broadway career in the revival of Annie Get Your Gun, made his West End stage debut as Marius in Les Miserables in 2010 and was part of the Hollywood Bowl staging of Hairspray as Link Larkin.

Jonas was the third leading man to take on the role of Finch in the 50th anniversary revival of How to Succeed. “Harry Potter” star Radcliffe opened the production in March 2011 for a ten-month run, and was succeeded by “Glee” actor Darren Criss, who concluded a limited, three-week engagement Jan. 22.

The principal cast also features Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Tammy Blanchard (Gypsy, “Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows”) as office bombshell Hedy La Rue, Rose Hemingway (Parade at the Mark Taper Forum) in her Broadway debut as Rosemary Pilkington, Rob Bartlett (Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors) as Twimble/Wally Womper, Sara Jean Ford as Smitty, Ellen Harvey (Thou Shalt Not, The Music Man) as Miss Jones and Michael Park (Middletown) as Bert Bratt.

How to Succeed opened on Broadway March 27, 2011.

The musical has a score by Frank Loesser, with a book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert. Tony Award winner Rob Ashford (Thoroughly Modern Millie; Promises, Promises) directed and choreographed the production. He is a current 2012 Tony nominee for his choreography of Evita.

The show is produced by Broadway Across America (John Gore, Thomas B. McGrath, Beth Williams), Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, Joseph Smith, Michael McCabe, Candy Spelling, Takonkiet Viravan/Scenario Thailand, Two Left Feet Productions/PowerArts, Jen Namoff/Fakston Productions, Hilary A. Williams, HOP Theatricals, LLC/Paul Chau/Daniel Frishwasser/Michael Jackowitz, and Michael Speyer – Bernie Abrams/Jacki Barlia Florin – Adam Blanshay/Arlene Scanlan/TBS Service.

For How to Succeed tickets, priced $52-$132, phone (212) 239-6200 or visit Telecharge. The Al Hirschfeld Theatre is located at 302 West 45th Street.

Nick Jonas’ next album isn’t a Jonas Brothers collaboration (although they are working on new music!). Nope, the handsome Broadway star’s How To Succeed EP is hitting shelves…today!

Check out Nick at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City while he was recording songs for the new album. The five songs on the EP are tunes that Nick performs on stage during the Broadway musical How To Succeed In Business Without Even Trying.

“This is unlike any album I’ve ever recorded. I think it’s going to be one of my favorites things that I’ve done in my career,” he told us.

We are already listening to it!

Do you plan on picking up his EP? You can buy it here!

Jonas took on the leading role of J. Pierrepont Finch Jan. 24. He is the third leading man to take on the role of Finch in the 50th anniversary revival of How to Succeed. “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe opened the production in March 2011 for a ten-month run, and was succeeded by “Glee” actor Darren Criss, who concluded a limited, three-week engagement Jan. 22. Jonas is contracted with the production through July 1. Visit his page on the Playbill Vault.

The principal cast also features Emmy, Golden Globe and Grammy Award winner Beau Bridges (Who’s Who in Hell, The Trial of the Catonsville Nine, “The Descendants,” “The Fabulous Baker Boys”) as J.B. Biggley, Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Tammy Blanchard (Gypsy, “Life with Judy Garland: Me and My Shadows”) as office bombshell Hedy La Rue, Rose Hemingway (Parade at the Mark Taper Forum) in her Broadway debut as Rosemary Pilkington, Michael Urie (“Ugly Betty,” Angels In America, The Temperamentals) as Bud Frump, Rob Bartlett (Chicago, Little Shop of Horrors) as Twimble/Wally Womper, Mary Faber (American Idiot, Avenue Q) as Smitty, Ellen Harvey (Thou Shalt Not, The Music Man) as Miss Jones and Michael Park (Middletown) as Bert Bratt.

How to Succeed opened on Broadway March 27, 2011, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The musical has a score by Frank Loesser, with a book by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert. Tony Award winner Rob Ashford directed and choreographed the production.
